Now Rajinikanth says, I'm not dead
The superstar, who was recently hospitalized for allergic bronchitis and viral fever, would not have imagined even in his wildest dreams that his hospitalization would result in fake news of his death circulating all over the internet.
As soon as the news spread, Rajini fans, thronged to online forums and sites to find out the truth. Such was the impact of the rumour that "Rajinikanth death" and "Rajinikanth died" became the top two most searched for keywords online last Sunday . Some websites even went to the extent of posting fake pictures of his death, with the message – Born on December 12, 1950, Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, famous as Rajinikanth, died at the age of 61.
Expressing shock over such false reports, Rajnikanth's family finally released an official statement on May 16 that said he was fine and had to take some rest following his recent hospitalization. "I don't know where these rumours started from. These are false. He is in good health and is resting at home," his wife Latha said in the presence of media.
Though heaving a sigh of relief following the confirmation of their star being well, Rajini fans are not willing to take this as 'just another joke'. Shaleen Asghar, a die-hard Rajini fan, said, "Bloggers should be careful in spreading news without verification. Rumours are not good. It is quite annoying to note that people do not check the authenticity of any news and spread it onwards." Akhil Das too expressed a similar opinion and said, "I am shocked to read about this stupid rumour. Rajini sir is a superstar and a very respectful man. And what do these guys gain anyway by spreading such false news?"

Everyone’s praying for Rajini
From doctors at Chennai’s Sri Ramachandra Hospital to thousands of ardent fans and Bollywood celebrities, everyone is offering their prayers for the speedy recovery of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, 61.
Rajini, who was last seen in the 2010 blockbuster Endhiran/Robot, fell ill on May 13, with recurrent respiratory infection and gastro-intestinal problems.
On Thursday, his wife Latha clarified that the star is on the path to recovery; however, for the actor’s friends in Bollywood, the time is fraught with tension and prayer. “All lovers of Rajnikanth ... it has been disturbing to learn of his hospitalisation. I have spoken to him and been in touch with wife. Rajinikanth is improving gradually, she informs me, today by sms. We hope and pray that he recovers as soon as possible (sic),” tweeted actor Amitabh Bachchan. “I’m a huge fan of Rajini sir and I am really praying for him to get well. He’s a phenomenon and still so humble. It’s no wonder half the world is praying for him,” says filmmaker Farah Khan. “Hoping he gets well soon. Rajini sir is the embodiment of a legend,” says celebrity photographer Atul Kasbekar.
It’s not just in South India that fans have been organising special pujas — his followers in Delhi, too, are hard at prayer. “I’ve been keeping a tab on every update that’s coming from the Chennai hospital. I also offered prayers for his recovery at the local temple. With so many people’s wishes, I’m sure he will be okay,” says 26-year-old graphic artist Karthik Jairaman. “Since the news of his ill health broke, everyone in my family has offered prasad for his recovery at the temple in our locality,” says 23-year-old student, Divya Iyer.
Keeping the faith in Rajini
Earlier this week, in the town of Hosur, Tamil Nadu, over 50 Rajinikanth fans got together and ate rice off the floor as part of the Mann Soru ritual. Held at the Kalikamba temple, the prayer was conducted to ensure the speedy recovery of the actor. On Thursday, several fan clubs got together to pray at the Mahim Ganpati temple in Mumbai.

Rajini rana dropped???
Rajinikanth's much-publicized movie Rana has temporarily been shelved, as the actor has to be in bed rest for at least six months. His family sources have said that they are more concerned about the actor's health and their first priority is the superstar's health.
Soundarya Rajinikanth, who is one of the producers of Rana, has told a leading tabloid that they are not thinking about the proposed project and it will be rescheduled once Rajinikanth is back to normal. Sources say that the actor will have to be in complete rest and obviously the movie has to be postponed.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth, who was admitted at the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre last week for a recurrent respiratory infection and gastrointestinal problems, underwent a minor lung surgery yesterday. Hospital sources say that the actor is cheerful and his condition is stable. But they have advised him to take complete bed rest and also have restricted the visitors from meeting the actor.
Rajini was hospitalised on the muhurat day of Rana due to allergic bronchitis and viral fever and discharged on the same day. But he was admitted again at the same hospital after Rajinikanth complained of uneasiness in breathing.

Selvaraghavan drops Kamal Hassan's Vishwaroobham?
The news may come as a shocker for the Tamil film goers or it may disappoint them but the fact is that Selvargahavan's much-hyped Vishwaroobham is on the back burner. Rumour mills are working overtime claiming that the movie has been shelved and the reasons for it are yet to be revealed.
A source close to the production has said that there are possibilities of the movie being dropped. It is because Kamal Hassan has gone ahead with the Tamil version of Malayalam movie Traffic. On the other hand, Selvargahavan is completely busy withErandam Ulagam.
It is said that the director is planning to start a bilingual movie with Telugu actor Allu Arjun in the lead, which means Vishwaroobham might not happen in the near future. Adding to it, musician Harris Jayaraj's tweet has added fuel to the speculationsVishwaroobham's status.
He wrote, “I am starting my next Telugu film by August with Allu Arjun and Shruti on the lead for which Selvaraghavan does the direction.”

Selvaragavan film doubtful: Rana
Young actor Rana, who was about to work with Selvaraghavan in a multi-crore venture, says now that the project might not take off. "But we may come together in future," he says.
Please note that Selva is at present busy with Dhanush-starrer 'Irandam Ulagam' and Kamal Haasan's 'Viswaroopam', while Rana, grandson of ace producer Rama Naidu, is doing films in Telugu and Hindi.
"I am a Hyderabadi, but at the same time I am a Chennaiite too. Because I grew up in Chennai and Tamil was the first language I learnt," says Rana, who was in the Chennai city recently to attend a Ugadi function.
"So I love to work in Tamil films. But my producers and directors like to cast me in either Telugu or Hindi movies. However I am happy that my debut film is produced by a Chennai-based company," says Rana, whose maiden venture 'Leader' was produced by AVM.
